Student Life

Learners at the academy will benefit from the opportunities created by organising pastoral care vertically with all students and staff being placed into one of four ‘Companies’. Within these companies, students will be in tutor groups. Tutor time will be a mix of time spent in year groups as well as sessions where cohorts are joined together.

Pastoral time is a dedicated period within the timetable of 25 minutes a day and will include: PSHE/Citizenship sessions, company competitions, mentoring, assemblies and time available for self-supported study.

At the WMG Academy, we are proud to offer a whole host of enrichment activities designed to give students the skills needed to complement their work in lessons. These skills, highly regarded by employers, fall into three categories. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, students have an opportunity to come to enrichment (4:30 – 6:00pm) to learn and develop these skills. Every students must take part in enrichment.

Student Leadership

In keeping with the business like ethos and culture of support and success, students at the WMG Academy will be given opportunities to undertake leadership roles. The Student Learner Forum will enable learners to be able to contribute to the strategic direction of the academy and be a sounding board and student voice forum between staff and employer partners. Download  the proposed Student leadership diagram here – this is the proposed leadership structure for the Student Learner Forum that outlines roles and responsibilities that are available for learners of all year groups to get involved in.
