Wonderful to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 by holding an inspiring Women in Engineering session with JLR. Thank you to Fernanda Francisco for sharing her amazing achievements including being the first woman in Paint Shop GM Portugal and being responsible for the launch of F Type Colours on Deck Lid from Portugal to CB as Project Manager.
There were awesome stories being shared about the intricacies of the paint shop with a wonderful anecdote of how one client brought in a bag of diamonds for them to be crushed into the paintwork! Safiyah Jahic (Year 13) suggested paint that transforms in heat and wet conditions so it would be unique to the client.
The impact of having professionals inspire the next generation is nothing but positive. By Fernanda coming to WMG Academy Trust Solihull, our students were enabled to challenge stereotypes and widen their gaze into more areas of Engineering at JLR. This was an incredible session led by Fernanda Francisco, a fantastic ambassador to inspire the next generation of Engineers as part of IWD2024. Thank you, Fernanda, for spending time with our students and being an inspiring female for international women’s day.
