Year 11 student Jordan Ryan is hoping to work with classic cars—but in his spare time he’s got wheels of a different kind.
The 16-year-old represents Great Britain as a roller blading superstar, racing all over the UK and Europe.
Jordan, who has been skating for ten years, trains three times a week in Birmingham. He is now combining his love of speed on the track with his desire to succeed in his GCSEs so he can become an automotive engineer, restoring classic cars.
Jordan said: “I feel very privileged and lucky because I know most people who don’t get to do what I do. I feel very proud to wear the GB kit.”
Jordan who has raced in Belgium, France, Portugal and Germany, says he is taking a temporary step back from overseas competitions to concentrate on his GCSEs at the end of this academic year, but he believes roller blading will always be a part of his life.
He said: “ I love the environment. Your rivals on the track are your friends off the track and I really like that. However I will suspend skating for a while to revise for my GCEs.
“Coming to WMG Academy has been a great decision for me. The teachers and my friends here are very supportive.”
