Warwick University E-sports centre kindly invited twenty-four of our ‘very excited’ hand selected Year 10 students to experience the world of electronic sports (E-Sports). Yes, it was officially a school day playing computer games! Well not quite.
The centre has an amazing area full of the latest gaming PCs to create the ultimate gameplay zone setup. This was initially the brainchild of a former Warwick University student. They visioned a space that allowed students who enjoyed playing competitive computer games to come together as one community! All of our students thoroughly enjoyed the day, especially the tournament to seek the best team in Rocket League, well done to Myles F, Joe S and Connor E who after some fierce rounds rightly crowned the WMG Solihull winners!
The day also included learning about product marketing and promotion. Each team created a team E-sport T-shirt design before having to pitch their ideas to their peers. Hassan M’s confidence in the sales pitch was amazing…a budding entrepreneur watch out Sir Alan Sugar! Teams further developed their promotional campaigns using the latest graphically computer aided design software with some fantastic results.
A great day, with lots of laughter, and some serious development of manual dexterity!
Well done all involved.
