Oh what a night! We were thrilled and delighted to be able to resume our annual Awards Evening, with a host of very important people in attendance. Most importantly, of course, were our star students, who had been selected by teachers in Coventry and Solihull academies for performance across a range of categories from academic achievements to demonstrating our core values. Alongside these exemplary students, it was an honour to welcome parents, carers, a large number of our employer partners, governors, trustees, and many long standing friends of the WMG Academies.
After the opening addresses, Stuart Baker our Chair of Trust presented the Key Stage 4 awards, with some students receiving multiple awards for their outstanding achievements.
Our special guest for the evening was Mike Kelt, the legendary special effects engineer who created the commonwealth bull, now known as “Ozzy”. Mike enthralled us with his talk on how he went from drawings on paper to engineering the world-famous bull, which has been viewed by millions of visitors from around the world. Mike then presented the Key Stage 5 awards, with many going to our BTEC engineering students.
The evening could not have been housed in a more fitting location – the Oculus Building at the University of Warwick is a masterful combination of art and engineering and we were grateful to have the opportunity to host our event in such a prestigious venue.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event possible, it was a wonderful reminder of the exceptional potential of our students, and the academies which inspire their journey towards becoming the next generation of engineers.
