Mental Health and Wellbeing
We want every student at WMG Academy Solihull to feel happy, confident, supported and able to thrive. Looking after mental health and emotional wellbeing is an important part of helping young people succeed at school and prepare for life beyond it.
Our Senior Mental Health Lead, Mrs Claire Carey, works alongside our pastoral and safeguarding teams to promote positive mental health across the Academy and ensure students can access appropriate support when they need it.
We also have a dedicated SEMH Practitioner, Ms Sofia Khan, who works with identified students individually and in small groups. Support is personalised and can focus on areas including:
- managing anxiety and emotions
- resilience and coping strategies
- self-esteem and confidence
- social and communication skills
- mindfulness
- emotional intelligence
Where a student needs additional or specialist support, we can work with families and make appropriate referrals to external services.
