WMG Academy for Young Engineers Student Support Team is passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people. We believe in teamwork; working with each other,
with teachers and colleagues across the school and wider WMG Academy Trust.
We act with determination. Whatever issues our students and their families face, we always
support, react and pull together. We are committed to making a difference; we are not passive players in young people’s lives but active participants who can and do make a real difference.

We also have a SEMH practitioner Ms Sofia Khan, her role is to educate and support students with social, emotional and mental health needs. Her role is to champion student differences while helping them to cope with their symptoms, overcome obstacles to their learning and feel better able to manage the demands of day-to-day life.
Ms Khan will work with identified students in a personalised basis, in area such as;
- Social skills
- Resilience
- Decreasing anxiety
- Understanding and managing emotions
- Mindfulness
- Increasing self-esteem
- Emotional intelligences
These session may be 1:1 or in small groups

We also provide in house counselling, provided by Coleshill Counselling Service. To access this support you can self refer via your son/daughters form tutor or head or year.
